2018年8月12日にマラソン14km走ります！火曜までのEarly Bird にギリギリ滑り込み！Entry Fee67AUD。正規87AUDです。ちなみに、8月11日の前日まで申し込みが可能です！このサービスも嬉しい。日本だと小さなマラソンでも3ヶ月前くらいなのにね。

そもそも金曜スーパーバイザーとの雑談から始まります。9月にシドニーマラソンにエントリーする計画を伝えると「シドニーマラソンの前にcity surfがあるじゃないか？」と言われ知りました。スーパーバイザー曰く、これはローカルにとっては有名なランニングイベントで、14kmと短めで時間制限もゆるい。だからローカルが結構仮装とかしてゆる〜く楽しむイベントみたいです。コースはシティーからBondi Beachまでを走るので人気があるのだとか。アップダウンが多くて、結構真面目に走ろうとしてもタイムがでにくいようで、距離の割に大変だと教えてくれました。
The City2Surf is 14km in distance starting from Hyde Park in Sydney’s CBD, at the intersection of Park St and College St. The course commences on a down hill on William St and heads up through the tunnel at Kings Cross. It continues along New South Head Rd through Rose Bay, then up the notorious "Heartbreak Hill" (the halfway point) and also the most scenic parts of the course. The course then turns the corner at Vaucluse, onto Old South Head Rd, then Military Rd and down the hill with ocean views, before completing a turn around at Curlewis st, into the finish line at the world famous and spectacular Bondi Beach. The City2Surf finish line is located on Queen Elizabeth Drive, adjacent to the children’s playground, north of the Bondi Pavilion, with runners finishing in a south bound direction.

The reputation of this uniquely Sydney event has grown year on year and the event is widely recognised as a ‘bucket-list’ item for serious runners and adventure lovers around the world. The Telegraph listed the event as one of the 16 Great Running Races Around the World, whilst Runner’s World lists the event in their 20 Races To Do Before You Die. Runtastic counts the event amongst it’s list of the World’s Most Extraordinary Races and Running Shoes Guru lists the event as one of the Top Ten Running Races In The World. In each of these lists, the City2Surf was the only Australian event to be featured.
HPのトップ→[RACE INFO]→[HISTORY LEGENDS]で入ると上にのせた文が載ってます。青色になってるところがリンク貼られているのでクリックするとそこから飛べます。もし暇があれば読んで欲しいです。この大会は世界でも有名なのがよくわかる。世界のレースとしていろんなランキングにノミネートされているのだからよっぽど景観も綺麗なのでは？と楽しみになった。そもそも「死ぬ前に出場しておくべき２０レース」とか存在するのね。知らなかった！笑

Everest Marathon, Nepal
The world’s highest marathon starts in the shadow of the world’s highest mountain at 17,000 ft. But before you can take part, you have to make it to the start – on foot. The trek up to Gorak Shep will help you to acclimatise to the lack of oxygen in the air before you begin the marathon on rough mountain trails. Despite an overall drop in altitude, the going is tough but as you head down to Namche Bazaar for the finish, remind yourself that it could be worse – you could be heading up the mountain rather than down.

Great Ethiopian Run 10K, Ethiopia
For atmosphere, energy and even anarchy, the Great Ethiopian Run simply can’t be surpassed. In a country where running is the national craze, this mass-participation 10K is a colourful, lively and sometimes chaotic race but also a tough challenge thanks to a handful of climbs and the altitude in the capital Addis Ababa. More than 30,000 runners line up at the start each year and if you join them you’ll be one of the few foreigners enjoying this amazing cultural experience.

スーパーバイザーの「有名なレースだよ」って意味はローカルだと思ったけど、世界的も人気みたいなので楽しみ倍増。
他には「ゴールがBondiなのが楽しいだろ？」「新聞は忘れずに買え」と言ってた。
「新聞？」参加者は数万なのに記録と名前が載るらしい！ますます楽しみ。シドニーで初めて新聞を買うことになりそうです。私の人生でまさか海外で自分のお金を出して新聞を買う日が来るとは！これもまた貴重な経験。
日曜夜のマラソンエントリーにより、突然のテンション高め！とうとう今週も始まる！本当に時間が経つのは早いぞ。では。
